I’m going to use chemical sensors for my wearable devices, what are the main challenges I expect?

Despite their benefits, chemical sensors face some challenges:

  1. Sensor Stability:
    Maintaining long-term accuracy and sensitivity, especially when exposed to sweat, oils, and environmental contaminants.

  2. Calibration:
    Sensors often require regular calibration to ensure accurate readings.

  3. Skin Compatibility:
    Prolonged skin contact can cause irritation or affect sensor performance.

  4. Power Consumption:
    Continuous monitoring can drain wearable device batteries.

  5. Data Interpretation:
    Processing chemical data accurately in real-time requires sophisticated algorithms.

  6. Cost:
    High-precision chemical sensors can be expensive to produce, increasing device costs.
